
SKML MEMBERSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Introduction and Acceptance
The Singapore Kadayanallur Muslim League (SKML) is a community-based organization dedicated to preserving our cultural heritage and promoting social welfare. By applying for and accepting membership in SKML, you are stepping into a collaborative community and agreeing to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, the SKML Constitution, and any amendments that may be made from time to time.
Your membership is an opportunity to contribute directly to the strength, solutions, and growth of the Kadayanallur Muslim diaspora in Singapore.
2. Membership Eligibility and Categories
2.1 Eligibility
Membership is generally open to individuals who identify with the Kadayanallur Muslim community in Singapore and are committed to supporting the objectives of SKML. All applicants must meet the criteria outlined in the SKML Constitution.
2.2 Categories
SKML currently offers the following membership categories (subject to change as per the Constitution):
Ordinary Member: Full voting rights and eligibility to hold office.
Associate Member: May participate in events and programmes but typically does not have voting rights or eligibility to hold office.
Life Member: Granted to Ordinary Members who meet specific criteria, often involving a one-time payment, retaining full rights.
3. Membership Application and Fees
3.1 Application Process
All applications must be submitted via the official SKML process and require the endorsement of existing members and approval by the Executive Committee, as per the Constitution. We are committed to an inclusive and welcoming process for all eligible applicants.
3.2 Membership Fees
Membership is subject to the payment of an annual subscription fee (for Ordinary/Associate Members) or a one-time fee (for Life Members), as determined by the Executive Committee.
All fees are non-refundable, except in the event an application for membership is rejected by the Executive Committee.
Failure to pay the annual subscription fee by the designated deadline may result in the suspension or termination of membership.
4. Rights and Responsibilities of Members
4.1 Member Rights
As a valued member, you have the right to:
Participate in SKML-organised events, programmes, and charitable initiatives.
Receive regular updates on SKML's activities and community impact.
(For Ordinary and Life Members) Exercise voting rights at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Extraordinary General Meetings (EGM).
Access and utilize SKML’s resources and facilities as deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee.
4.2 Member Responsibilities
Membership is a call to action and collaboration. You agree to:
Uphold the good name and reputation of SKML and act in a respectful and dignified manner towards all fellow members and the wider community.
Abide by the SKML Constitution, these Terms and Conditions, and all decisions made by the Executive Committee.
Keep your contact information updated with SKML.
Actively contribute to the objectives of SKML, whether through participation, volunteering, or sharing your strengths and ideas.
5. Personal Data Protection
By becoming a member, you consent to SKML collecting, using, and disclosing your personal data (such as name, contact number, email, and address) for the following purposes:
Membership administration, renewal, and communication.
Sending out information about SKML's events, charitable initiatives, and programmes.
Compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including reporting to the relevant Singapore authorities.
SKML is confident in its commitment to protecting your privacy in line with our official Privacy Policy.
6. Suspension and Termination of Membership
6.1 Voluntary Resignation
A member may resign by giving written notice to the Secretary of the Executive Committee. Any fees paid are non-refundable.
6.2 Termination by SKML
The Executive Committee reserves the right to suspend or terminate the membership of any individual who:
Acts in a manner deemed detrimental to the interests or reputation of SKML.
Violates the SKML Constitution or these Terms and Conditions.
Fails to pay the required membership fees after a notice period.
The member shall be given an opportunity to provide a written explanation before a final decision on termination is made, fostering a fair and transparent process.
7. Limitation of Liability
SKML and its Executive Committee members shall not be held liable for any loss, injury, or damage sustained by any member or guest arising from or during any SKML event, programme, or use of facilities, unless such liability is due to gross negligence or wilful default by SKML. Members participate in all activities at their own risk.
8. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore.
